Profound Ladies was founded with a vision to create an inclusive and supportive community for BIPOC educators who are often underrepresented in the teaching profession. Our journey began in 2020, when our founder, Keiyonna Dubashi, recognized the pressing need for mentorship, professional development, and advocacy for educators of color. As a practitioner at Governor Roy Cooper’s DRIVE Task Force, and drawing from her own experiences as a National Board Certified Teacher and a DEI consultant, Keiyonna set out to empower individuals through education, connection, and resources that celebrate diversity and foster equity.

Our Why.

The initial gathering of passionate educators ignited a spark of collaboration and community. From informal meetings to structured workshops, the organization’s momentum grew as more educators joined the movement. This grassroots effort evolved into a formal network that prioritized the unique challenges faced by BIPOC teachers and their students.
As we gained traction, our programs expanded to include professional development cohorts, advocacy initiatives, and wellness support tailored to the specific needs of our members. Our commitment to fostering a space where educators could share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs became a cornerstone of our mission.

Throughout the years, Profound Ladies has grown significantly, transitioning from a local initiative to a national movement, impacting educators across 26 states. Our diverse membership reflects a mosaic of voices, experiences, and perspectives, all united by a shared commitment to educational equity and excellence.

With the launch of the Profound Leaders program and the T.E.A.C.H. portal, we continue to develop innovative solutions aimed at increasing access and opportunities for BIPOC educators and their students. We believe that representation matters, and our work is driven by the understanding that diverse educators are crucial to shaping a more equitable education system.

Today, Profound Ladies stands as a beacon of hope and change, advocating for a future where every educator and student can thrive. We invite you to join us on this journey of empowerment, collaboration, and impact as we work together to transform the landscape of education.

Our Values

Love

Love is liberation. Love creates space for belonging through connection, vulnerability, and grace. As we work to doula new futures for children, we let love’s patience, acceptance and accountability cover us, our spirits, and our work.

Light

We light the path for authenticity and inclusivity. Doing so is a daily commitment to reject the messages of white supremacy and be ourselves, unapologetically.

Learning

Reflection & self-awareness is learning in action. It is the belief, despite all odds, that a more loving and just world is possible, and it starts with our relationship to ourselves. We fight the status quo that conflates growth with competition and comparison.

Legacy

We believe our legacy is in servant leadership. It is the debt we pay for occupying a space in time. Our desire to lead with servitude serves to build a legacy that supersedes any individualistic contributions.
