Why This Matters
Black History Month is not just a time to reflect on the contributions of Black leaders and educators but also a call to action for those committed to equity and liberation. The “Stand in Solidarity” campaign is designed to mobilize allies, co-conspirators, and organizations in active support of BIPOC teacher retention and systemic equity. This toolkit equips you with the resources, knowledge, and actionable steps needed to take a firm stand.
- The Crisis: BIPOC teachers face systemic barriers that lead to high attrition rates, undermining diversity in education.
- The Impact: Research shows that having even one BIPOC teacher significantly improves outcomes for students of color.
- The Rollback of DEI: Recent policy shifts have weakened DEI efforts, making it more urgent than ever to act.
By participating in this campaign, you are taking a stand for justice, equity, and the future of our education system.

Equity is not a passive endeavor. It demands action, allyship, and unwavering commitment. This Black History Month, let’s not only honor the past but actively shape a future where every student sees themselves reflected in their teachers. Together, we can stand in solidarity for liberation and justice.
Message from our Executive Director
As we witness the erosion of our rights and the dismantling of critical progress made in public education, it is imperative that we rise together in unwavering solidarity. The recent executive orders signed by Donald Trump are not just an attempt to implement policies—they are an attack on our communities, on our futures, and on the very principles of equity and justice that we have fought so hard to achieve.
These actions, targeting the Department of Education, funding tied to education, and our most marginalized groups—Black and Brown communities, LGBTQIA individuals, and all those who are protected under the banner of diversity, equity, and inclusion—are an affront to the heart of our democracy. The walking back of DEI initiatives, the suppression of Black History Month, and the erasure of history itself only serve to silence the voices that have been speaking truth to power for generations.
We cannot and will not stand idly by as these harmful forces seek to undo the progress we’ve made. Now is the time to show up, to speak out, and to demand the justice we deserve.
Join us for our upcoming Black History Month Campaign: S.I.S. – Stand in Solidarity (with Educators). This is more than a call to action—it is a movement of unity, strength, and resistance. Together, we will stand firm against policies that seek to divide us and dismantle our communities. We will fight to protect our educators, our students, and the future of public education.
This campaign is a testament to the power of standing together. It is a call to arms for all who believe in the right to an equitable, inclusive, and just education. We will not allow the rewriting of history, the suppression of knowledge, or the marginalization of our most vulnerable. We stand in solidarity with educators and activists who refuse to accept the status quo.
Now is the time to make our voices heard. Join us. Stand with us.
Together, we will demand that our children—our future—have the right to see themselves in their education, to learn the truth, and to thrive in a world that values their lives.
